Our Work

These are pictures of an Electra trials we have recently completed for a customer.

Looks good, doesn't it? (comments welcome on the Forum)

our servicing bays

Modified Electra trials front

Modified Electra trials from seat

Here are some pictures of some of the vehicles we have worked on in the last couple of years. Some belong to Jim and some are customers vehicles, they have been put on here with their kind permission.

restored Standard

A recently restored 1934 Standard 9 - owned by Jim himself.
It took 15 years from a total box of bits, i didn't rush.
A very rare car the 2 door but a nice steady car to drive.

(Now for sale see used page)

restored bike

A 1931 Levis twin port 350cc model A

A 1923 250cc model K two stroke.
This actual bike won the 1922 junior lightweight TT

This bike is unbeleiveably fast and handle like its on rails. It would give some Jap bikes a run for their money I bet.

A tank we had specially painted for a customer.
The writing and lines are painted on and not transfers.

the dreadnought

The 'Dreadnought' is the one and only, once owned by the famous racer Willy Karslake. Great fun to ride, although you do need eyes in the back of your head and two pairs of arms and legs  to work all the controls and balance and steer. This bike has no clutch. Just run and hop on. Great in traffic.

( by kind permission of the VMCC)

airflow bullet 500

An Airflow Bullet 500 built by Jim Allen Motorcycles. This is an Indian bullet which we have fitted an Airflow Fairing on to. It now has a high comp piston with alloy barrel and disc brake front end, Egli distributor, raised primary and secondary gearing to take advantage of the Airflow.

All fittings including spokes and rims are stainless. It has electric rev counter and power take off points for the sat nav, 50's style handlebars and Krauser rear panniers. It now returns 105 mpg at a steady cruise speed of 55mph with a pillion.

We tried out a CV carb fitted to the Electra X and we found the carb to be really good with the ordinary piston - but gave a mid range flat spot with the forged alloy piston at 8:1 so we are now running on a Mikuni carb

Also we fitted a hydraulic clutch to try, but it did not work out, so back to standard.

( Now for sale, see used bike section)

de dion bouton

A 1904 De-dion Bouton model Y 8hp with swing seat tonneau, we have been working on.

It broke the back axle in the 2005 London to Brighton run so we made a new one and did it again in 2006, this time we did it only loosing a tyre on the way taking 8 hours to do the run, We have just done the run again in 2007 and finished in record time of 5 hours including a stop of 1 hour for lunch at Crawley. This was done fully loaded with 4 adults and luggage with an average speed of 20-24 mph(according to Satnav) with a flatout speed of 38mph on the A23 towards Brighton.

23.04.2007 - The owner is now selling, please e mail for more details and leave contact details.

jims' old triumph

...and a picture of my Old Triumph. This is an SD model of 1923 which was once owned by the Famous racer Austin Monks, unfortunately the bike is no longer in my hands.

Royal Enfield Prince without seat

Prince from the top

This my Royal Enfield Prince which is nearly finished, just got some charging problems to rectify and then seat to fit and road testing. Any advice on mods for charging system appreciated.

(This bike will soon be for sale - email for more information)

Just had to put this in. It is a picture of my friend Pete's sidecar which he has just finished. It is a Noxall sports replica which he uses for daily transport, rain or shine summer or winter.

Made mostly of plywood over an Ash frame.
